In the Zoom in section, we dive into an important feature of your smartphone every month. In this third edition we dive into the processor. Some brands make them themselves, and others have third-party companies make them. What are the best processors right now? What does the processor enable you to do? And in which devices can you find them?
The processor: the brain of your smartphone
Your phone won’t work without a processor. It is therefore also called the brain of a smartphone. The component that controls everything on your smartphone and makes it function properly. All actions you perform on your smartphone go straight to the processor. These actions are then visually converted on your screen. And all this in a split second. Nice piece of technology, right? It is therefore good to consider what kind of processor you need as an entrepreneur, because the type of processor determines how fast your phone is in daily use.
Is a fast phone important to you?
You can see a telephone as your work partner. Your smartphone can help you get your work done faster. If you are going to buy a new smartphone, it is important to pay attention to the processor cores and the clock speed.
The processor consists of several cores. These cores divide the work that flows in when you use your phone. You can see this as a team, which complement each other when necessary. If you perform many actions on your phone at once, the next core will help. The more cores, the faster a processor can do its job. If you want a fast phone, it is therefore recommended to choose a smartphone with six (hexa) or eight (octa) processor cores.
You can also look at the clock speed. The clock speed decides the number of directions the processor can execute each second. 1 gigahertz (GHz) can process 1 billion instructions per second. The higher the clock speed, the quicker the phone. Samsung and Apple are the front-runners when it comes to producing smartphones with extremely fast processors.
How do you tell what a good processor is?
Today, when you buy a new smartphone, it almost always has a good processor that is fast enough for all daily apps and processes. You often do not see exactly how many cores the processor has in the specifications. For example, Samsung uses the name Samsung Exynos. Apple is once again using the Apple Bionic processor. These often have 6-8 processor cores. The latest models have the fastest processor, and if you dig a little deeper into the specific processor specs, you’ll see the number of cores and how they work together. If you want to know more about this, you can always contact us and we will compare the different devices.
Nothing is more annoying than a phone that is slow. Especially as a busy entrepreneur, you don’t want to wait for a page to load on your smartphone. But it may be the case that you only use your phone for your mail, sending messages and surfing and then it is a waste to pay a lot of money for a smartphone with an extremely fast processor.
It is then wise to choose a smartphone from the middle segment. Do you already know the Chinese brand OPPO? OPPO devices have a powerful processor and are affordable. The OPPO Find X3 Pro model has a clock speed of 2.8 GHz. Frequently used apps such as Instagram, Email and WhatsApp are loaded quickly on this device. Short break? Watching a game or video also runs smoothly with an OPPO phone.
The processors of the new iPhone 13 series
Recently, the new iPhone 13 series from Apple was released. Of course, the new iPhones have a whole host of improvements, including the processor. All business iPhone 13 models use the fastest mobile chip at the moment: the A15 Bionic processor. Moreover, this processor is also more efficient. What does this mean to you? As a business user with one of the new iPhones, this ensures that you can edit business videos and that apps can run side by side faster and without stuttering. Take advantage of the fastest processor of the moment and order the business iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max or the iPhone 13 mini!
Tip: close applications
Applications are often still running in the background, because they are not automatically closed completely. This means that the processor must still work. The more applications run in the background, the more the working memory is loaded. It is therefore recommended to completely close applications that you are not using.
As you have read, the latest phones have a good processor. If it is important to you that your smartphone works extra fast, then you now know what to look out for.
